Happy Thankgiving

The Holiday Season is approaching and Christmas will be here before you know it.   Unfortunately we don't take time to enjoy Thankgiving without looking ahead to Christmas.    Thankgiving is one of my favorite holidays.   It's a time to reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for.   It's also a day to spend with family and friends enjoying a traditional meal of turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie.    Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Poland Trip

Recently, my husband and I with my son and daughter-in-law Anna went on a great trip to Poland where we visited Anna’s family in her hometown of Belchatow. After a couple relaxing days in Belchatow, all of us including Anna's brother and parents headed out on a road trip throughout the southwest region of Poland, and then onto our final destination, Prague. Poland is a beautiful country with such a diverse history.

Now, this being a blog about quilting and fabric and not about my travels, I'll cut to the chase. While in Krakow, our first stopping point, we were strolling through Kazimierz , the old Jewish sector of the city prior to WWII, we came upon a pub by the name of SingerCafe'. What is unique about this place is all the tables (about 70-75) are treadle sewing machines including all the tables in the outdoor seating area. As a proud owner of a couple of these fine Singer machines myself, of course we had to go in for a couple of Zywiecs. As we sat and enjoyed our brew we were surrounded by all these wonderful machines. It was fantastic, a real sense of history. What a great place and what a unique concept!  \

2011 Block of the Month

Civil War Chronicles - Fabric by Judie Rothermel and design & pattern by Homestead Hearth is the Block of the Month for 2011. It's just gorgeous. The blocks tell the stories of  twelve women who endured their own struggles on the home front while their husbands were away.  Quilters will enjoy learning about these interesting women, representing both sides of this historical conflict in our nation. Each installment will include a pattern, fabric and a biography about the general's wives and important events of their wartime experiences.

We will be starting this BOM for 2011, before we place our orders we are curious to see how many of our customers might be interested in participating. The cost  will be  $23.50 per month. If you are interested you can either email us at info@twobeesfabric.com or simply send us a comment here.

Well, we finally did it. My partner, Mary and I have been talking for years about starting a business related to quilting. We hashed over many different ideas but finally settled on an on-line fabric store. We both love everything about quilting, the planning, the shopping, the piecing, the quilting, the binding but, at the top of the list is fabric. Our goal is to offer quilters a source of quality quilting fabric at below retail prices yet offer exceptional customer service. So, we got the web-site up (that's a story in itself...arghhh) and started to stock our store with lots of beautiful fabric. So, please add us to your favorites and check back with us often to see what we've added to our inventory and check on our growth as we move forward.
